Another Surf Fishing Clinic is in the books! This time, we were in Huntington Beach at Bolsa Chica State Beach, where Bill Varney of FishtheSurf.com was on hand to guide and teach all kinds of techniques to well over 60 people in the crowd. This clinic sold out in just 2 days, and all of the proceeds went straight to CCA California.
We want to say a big thank you to State Board Member Bill Varney for running many successful surf fishing clinics! Be on the lookout for some more in the future!
August 8th – Tuna Techniques, Channel Islands Chapter
Tuna Techniques was a huge hit for out Channel Islands Chapter! They were joined by 3 guest speakers: Gary
Johnson, Charter Master for the Apollo, Freddy Lemay, and local tuna expert in Ventura County, and Capt. David Bacon! To top it all off, we gave away a whole bunch of prizes including BD Outdoors merchandise, a pair of the popular Shimano Flatfalls, and so much more! We really appreciate Made West Brewing Company in Ventura for hosting our event!
July 20th/21st – Bill Varney’s Surf Fishing Clinic – Carlsbad State Beach
July 27th/28th – Bill Varney’s Surf Fishing Clinic – Carpinteria State Beach
CCA California spent 2 weekends surf fishing in Southern California! CCA CAL board member and surf fishing guru Bill Varney hosted surf fishing seminars at Carlsbad State Beach and Carpinteria State Beach in late July. Both clinics were 2 days long at each beach, and offered opportunities to fish on a late afternoon and early morning during rising tides. All 4 days were a great success and drew about 50 people for each seminar, a healthy mix of both longtime surf fisherman and new surf fisherman brand new to the scene.
To check learn all about surf fishing in Southern California, or to learn more about Bill Varney, make sure to go to fishthesurf.com and make sure to reserve your spot for his seminar at Bolsa Chica State Beach on September 22nd!
