Volunteers from CCA California Chapters up and down the coast are continuing to put in a lot of time and effort into the Ocean Resources Enhancement and Hatchery Program (OREHP), and the success has been pretty apparent in the past few weeks.

Members from the Channel Islands Chapter were recently faced with a challenging situation in which the facility was in need of some major repairs, and funding wasn’t available. The group was able to fundraise and managed to get the community together to help make the repairs. In March, they were able to receive over 5,000 juvenile White Sea Bass at the facility. You can watch the video of the delivery here:

While the Channel Islands Grow Out Pen was receiving fish, the fish at the Dana Point Harbor Grow Out Pen, which is run by Rick Jensen of Sportfishing Financial and a CCA CAL volunteer, were scheduled to be released. While the Dana Point Group was one of the first groups to accomplish releasing fish from a sport boat, this time because of the pandemic of COVID-19, that option wasn’t available, so Jensen released them right from the grow out pen.
