MPA Baseline Monitoring Meetings
During the week of March 20-24, local ocean community members are invited to attend a series of community gatherings held throughout the South Coast region (Pt. Conception to the California/Mexico border, including offshore islands). Join us to learn about key findings from marine protected area (MPA) baseline monitoring and participate in decision making about our ocean. Each event will be free and open to the public, bringing together fishermen, California tribes and tribal communities, researchers, citizen scientists, educators, and others interested in monitoring, evaluation, and adaptive management of California’s MPAs and marine resources. We need all Fishermen to attend these meetings to not only find out what’s going on, but to let our voices be heard. We need Fishermen to get involved in the process. Click on the flyer for larger version. |

Artificial Reef Meetings
Our California Department of Fish & Wildlife (CDFW) is holding Baseline Assessment meetings for Artificial Reefs. The goal is to get the stakeholder’s requirements compiled for the scientific review of all of the reefs in California. We need to keep pushing the department to get through this process in order to evaluate the reefs so we can plan the future of reefing in California. https://cdfwmarine.wordpress.com/2017/03/16/public-meetings-on-artificial-reefs-in-california/ |

365 Fishing License |
CCA CAL has been a big proponent of a fishing license good for 12 months from date of purchase or 365 license. This week, California Sportfishing League (CSL) published this: California’s “annual” fishing license is the most expensive in the country, and it is NOT valid for a full 12-months from the date of purchase. If state legislators don’t hear from you, they will not reform a failed system. Please Click here to sign the petition |
